Gatecrasher One
Situated in the grounds of the Old Roper & Wreaks Steelworks in Sheffield, Gatecrasher One was the flagship venue of the world famous Gatecrasher brand. A devasting fire tore through the interior and destroyed the venue in June 2007 leaving a huge hole in british club culture.
As the home of Gatecrasher for over 8 years the venue played host to many of the true greats of dance music. 112 Arundell Street is still haunted by the sounds of parties past from the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Jeff Mills, Masters at Work, Pete Tong, Derrick May, Milo and The Chemical Brothers.
The venue retained many of the key features of its industrial heritage whilst incorporating the latest in technological advancements following its £1.5 million re-design when Gatecrasher took over. The venue featured lavish interiors befitting a high class designer hotel with bespoke Philippe Starke inspired furniture, colour changing acrylic walls, deep carved virgin timbers, fibreglass sculptural seating and architectural planting.
Gatecrasher One also featured a custom built Opus sound system, state of the art lighting rig with over 50 moving heads, a full colour laser system, plus an internal network of screens for projection, video imagery and live internet broadcasting.
These components shaped Gatecrasher One into one of the most interactive and contemporary venue in the UK, a geniune landmark within british popular culture the venue will be missed by thousands.
Well Gatecrasher One is now in the past and the present is all about looking towards the future... so what does the future hold? Well all i can say is that Gatecrasher is all about bigger, better and bolder...NEVER STAND STILL watch this space!
