RECYCLED! but not BORING!...
2008 had been hed kandi's year, the releases were very glossy, upbeat and full of good vibrations, although there had been like 3 stereo sushis and 2 hed kandi live editions and there was the launching of HED KANDI AMERICA which was really confusing at first , the hed kandi the mix 2009 uk edition as what you can see is very recycled , but here is the catch, these tracks had made hed kandi so big for the past previous years, true club classics and those tracks that you really MISSED, tracks from NALIN & KANE, FREEMASONS, AND THE GIRLS FROM BOOTY LUV, what happened to them anyway? well hed kandi brought them to life again with a different twist and a different remix, CD1 is A MIX suited for your friday evening partying and the CD2 - the one that i love the most, is crafted for the saturday evening parties, and the last but not the least?.. the 3rd CD, uhmm this one is a bit different , more dontempo and jazzy , mellow and afterparty tunes for the sunday morning - this is bit odd to listen to considering that usually the hed kandi annual compilations are composed of the tracks for twisted disco for cd1 , disco kandi for cd2 , and disco heaven for cd3, but this annual cd focuses on the PARTY ON WEEKENDS - sounds like they were copying it with FA'S ES VIVE IBIZA? im sorry mr. doyle, but really i must say that if this one is recycled?.. THEY HAVE RECYCLED THIS ONE IN ITS VERY BEST! .. something to warm you up in this chilly season.

RATING: 4 STARS

recommended tracks: the whole cd1 and cd2 and less of cd3

ENJOY.... :)

An Album Review From D. Mcfarlane of Leeds England - giving 5 Stars! for this latest Hed Kandi World Series Album :)

September 09, 2008

I was a little skeptical about their being two world series releases this year as we already had a recent installment from San Francisco. I love this series as it gives HK a chance to break away from its traditional mould, and present a more international sound... and this edition does just this and with great conviction.

The artwork is amazing and everything is presented in its usual luxurious style. Each mix has something special to offer... I think disk one is probably more on the tip of what you would hear late into the night at El Divino but there are elements and winks back to the Kandi camp running right throughout the compilation.

The John Jones mix is a total winner for me fitting more to my taste of some proper funky but tough house music that i was hearing when i was in Ibiza back in july.
In a sea of ibiza compilations that you can buy i would probably say this is my favourite of this year. Absolutely superb!

If the weather isn’t giving you any clues, the best way of guaranteeing that summer is finally here is the arrival of Hed Kandi’s The Mix: Summer 2008. The very essence of sunshine vibes refined into a seamlessly mixed three-disc extravaganza, it covers every aspect of the Kandi dance-floor experience. As the heart and soul of Hed Kandi’s output, ‘The Mix: Summer 2008’ collects together the different flavours of Twisted Disco, Disco Kandi and Disco Heaven for the ultimate Kandi party.

Part one, Twisted Disco slips into gear with Adele’s ubiquitous ‘Cold Shoulder’ which gets additional heavy beats and sub bass action courtesy of an Out of Office remix that sidles into a Dub mix of ‘The One’ from Sharam who keeps the pop piquancy at maximum with some devilish Daniel Bedingfield sampling. One of dance music’s all time greats, De’Lacey’s ‘Hideaway’, gets a Cederic Gervais rubdown as team Kandi throw down a twisting and turning mix that features a litany of classics with the likes of Happy Clappers as retooled by Vandalism - who make no less than three appearances on disc one taking on Chicken Lips’ ‘Do It Proper’ and with their own ‘Smash Disco’. Paul Johnson’s ‘Get Down’ gets refurbed by Laidback Luke, Norman Cook in his Mighty Dub Katz guise supplies ‘Just Another Groove’ for Tocadisco to slice, as Erick Morillo and Little Louie Vega AKA Lil Mo Ying Yang have their timeless ‘Reach’ madeover by TV Rocks and Herve featuring Plastic Little, DONS & DBN & Italian upstarts Spit deliver some delicious dance-floor manoeuvres to round off part one.

Warren Clarke steps to the fore at the start of CD2, giving a funky disco sheen to this year’s comeback kings, Utah Saints, Therese gets busy on mic for The Mac Project’s ‘Another Love’ and the ‘Reach Up’ sampling ‘Watch Out’ from Alex Gaudino signal a more uplifting zest to Disco Kandi’s outing on The Mix Summer 2008. A bang up to date version of Haji and Emanuel’s ‘Take Me Away’ a Stonebridge remix of ‘Fudge’ by Fruitcake featuring Ann Yung, Deepest Blue, Sweet Mercey featuring the one and only Rowetta and Mobin Master’s retake of ‘Show Me Love’ featuring Robin S herself ensure that the blissful party atmosphere reaches fever pitch as Stonebridge returns with ‘Close To Heaven’ and Hott 22 featuring Bonnie Bailey’s ‘No Promises’ brings the Disco Kandi disc to a climactic end.

Last but certainly not least, the Kandi crew unleashes Disco Heaven as the final part of The Mix: Summer 2008. Throwing themselves headlong into the elysian beats, Hed Kandi drop a rapturous set of crowd pleasers from the likes of Todd Terry Allstars whose ‘Get Down’ features heavyweight action from Kenny Dope, DJ Sneak, Terry Hunter and Tara McDonald plus there’s celestial appearances from Freemasons featuring the much admired Katherine Ellis, Ricki Lee, C&C Family, a welcome return to the Hed Kandi fold for the one and only Ron Carroll, as remixed by Warren Clarke who gives his all appearing on another remix for September as well as presenting Jonni Black and Shena with ‘Bitch Is Black’. The angelic mix draws to a close with Aaron Perez’s Sinister Subconscious, segueing into Shapeshifters ‘Treadstone’.

Throwing a party like only they can Hed Kandi The Mix: Summer 2008 is a seamless glimpse into a deliciously decadent world.

these are some of the album reviews made by fans of UK about Fierce Angel's Latest Release from Amazon.Uk

Best of Album??!!!, 19 Jun 2008
By: Eden
This Album is a sell out! Mark couldn't think of enough good new songs so put in everything that you had over the last few years! Very annoying. If this was supposed to be a 'Best of Album' then say so. And if it was you should have Soldiers of Twilight, Solu Music and Sven Van Hees in it for starters...

Saying that if you do not have any of Beach House Albums err Beach Angel then go and get this album there are some classic tracks along with some new anthems (which slippied under my radar :) )

All in all as said already a little more time in researching could have made an outstanding album (again)

takes recycling to a whole new level, 18 Jun 2008
By candyman (London)
Like many fans of Hed Kandi / Fierce Angel I eagerly await each release, especially when it comes to the Beach House / Beach Angel compilations as we're only treated to one of each per year and they often throw up some outstanding tracks that otherwise might pass me by.
Unfortunately with this latest installment of the 'Beach Angel' series, Hed Kandi creator Mark Doyle has done little more than raid his back catalogue as 17 of the 32 tracks featured on this 3 disc set have appeared on his previous compilations. Although past Fierce Angel / Hed Kandi albums have always featured their fair share of repeated tracks often appearing again in mixed, unmixed or remixed form, lifting over half the songs on this album from previous Hed Kandi CDs seems excessive, highly unoriginal and is a real slap in the face to all of Mark's loyal fans that have supported his Fierce Angel label since he left Hed Kandi.
Thankfully Disc 3 (currently listed on Amazon as Disc 2) is the album's saving grace with 2 fabulous new songs by Bassmonkeys as well as others by Samantha James and the ever dependable Peyton but this, in my opinion, is cold comfort serving to remind us of just how fabulous the album could have been given a little more thought and effort.
Much like the British weather this album is a disappointing start to Summer '08. Fingers crossed the folks at Hed Kandi do better with their forth-coming 'Beach House' compilation.

Not the Best!, 5 Jul 2008

(REAL NAME)
Over the past couple of years, i have become a big fan of the Fierce Angel label, always seems to dish up a great compilation without fail. However, this Beach Angel is a total let down compared to 2007.....its seems boring!
At least good old Peyton restored some of my faith as always and the classic, Sense Of Danger.
Fierce Angel always have seemed to have the upper hand on Hed Kandi since Mark Doyle left, but i'm afraid to say that Hed Kandi Serve Chilled 08 knocks Beach Angel 3 from the top spot this year!

New to beach comps , and very pleased, 28 Jun 2008
By em1989 (UK) - See all my reviews
This is the first beach comp I have owned, and think it's great! Apparently there are tracks on here which have featured on previous comps, but personally I am glad i've been given the chance to discover them for the first time. I can understand frustrations of people who have purchased all the existing compilations, but I haven't - so personally, I am very happy with this collection!

candyman says it all, 24 Jun 2008
By Whoopsy Daisy (UK)
I could never have penned my review as well as candyman. Everything he said has resonated with me.

The only thing I'd like to add is what has happened to Bonnie Bailey?

Highly disappointed. Perhaps I should go back to Hed Kandi?

White Isle madness awaits those fortunate enough to attend the official Hed Kandi Opening Party this Saturday night in El Divino.

It’s going to be a no-holds-barred spectacle of epic proportions and we just can’t wait till Saturday.

First thing you need to know if you’re joining us is that there’s a weekly dresscode and for the launch night it’s Catch Me If You Kandi: think high-fashion high-flyers, sexy cabin crew, couture captains and business-class beauties! We want to see everyone making an effort and getting into the spirit of the skies.

So you dress up to get down and we’ll look after the rest.

Hed Kandi headliners Phil Faversham and Andy Norman will be joined by HK resident Ibiza DJs, Ian C on live percussion, and there’s a very special live PA from Tara McDonald (she of ‘MyMyMy 2006’,’ Feel The Vibe’ & ‘Get Down’ fame).

Don’t forget too that our official pre-parties can be found at Iblza Lounge in Ibiza Town, and in San Antonio check out Plastik and Savannah, whilst the main action in El Divino will be from midnight – 6am.

Our friends Monarch are on hand all summer with FlyKandi to help you get to your favourite Hed Kandi clubbing destinations across Europe.

Also, check out our HK Beauty competition for your chance to win 2 flights to the White Isle!

A Taste Of Kandi Summer 2008

Our bi-annual sampler is back in its scantily-clad summer guise. A Taste Of Kandi Summer 2008 will be hitting the shops on Monday (09th June).

It’s a very special 1CD mix featuring our all Kandi’s own repertoire (and it’s available at a very special price too!). Starting out with the ever-soulful Aaron Ross, Love Potion features Dutch songstress Gia Mellish in this uplifting opening track, setting the tone with a perfect summer groove. Hed Kandi DJ and producer Wez Clarke teams up with Maxine Hardcastle next for Another Chance with Richard Earnshaw providing a succulently soulful remix of this Team Kandi collaboration. Notus featuring Kandi favourite Shena and Steve Haines’ Be With You follow, moving the pace up a level to make way for Warren Clarke as he presents Bitch Is Back. By mid-mix we find ourselves in Kandi dancefloor mode as the familiar bassline of Another Love from Mac Project and Therese raises smiles and hands all round. Utah Saints revive Something Good and Sucker DJs seek Salvation with the fantastic Esquire on the remix. Moving on we hear tracks from Raul Rincon, My Digital Enemy, and Sunlovers with the anthemic Show Me Love featuring a re-sung vocal from the legendary Robin S. Talented new kid Deadmau5 drives us towards sunset with the hugely successful Not Exactly leaving us with Hugh Gunnel & Paul Gardner’s take on Frankie Knuckles’ seminal classic ‘Your Love’... a perfect finale!

This 1CD selection should get you nicely fired up with antici.............pation for our massive Hed Kandi The Mix: Summer 2008 triple mix album, out at the end of the month.

a short review from DISCO D. in regards to the HED KANDI'S WORLD SERIES LIVE SAN FRANCISCO....

Photobucket

It seems that the long dreary winter is finally over and I find myself longing for better things. Sunshine, beaches and a little audible bliss.

I always await Hed Kandi releases in the summertime with more anticipation than usual as it seems to define my mood for the rest of the year, After the last world series release, I know that for myself and others it has been a long agonizing wait for the next installment.

So.. the sun is beaming down outside and drink in hand I feel set to give my two cents on 'The World Series - Live - San Francisco'.

I'll start with the artwork, its an gorgeous twist on the 'Serve Chilled 3 cover, but this time with a cheeky reflection of the Golden Gate bridge, splashed across a background of the stars and stripes.

Also included is a 'World Series guide to San Francisco' a grand idea if ever there was one. Its an Invaluable guide to the best clubs, hotels, restaurants and even attractions to visit whilst in San fran. With Hed Kandi's wealth of knowledge from holding global events I hope that this will continue to be included in World Series releases.

Normally after I have listened to a mix I tip towards a particular disk as a favorite or I find a few tracks that aren't my cup of tea, but after three weeks of listening, I found it hard to find any tracks I dont like.

Disk one starts with the wonderful Starstrings by Jody Wistenroff, I think its absolutely dreamy and the perfect way to start proceedings. Ercola vs Heikki L - Deep at night (Adam K + Soha mix) is a tune i cant get enough of! The infectious lyrics are beautiful, it demands to be listened to in the early hours watching a sunset and is effortlessly blended into the fabulous Deamau5 remix of Hybrid's classic track 'Finished symphony'. The music then quickly moves into familiar Kandi territory with the huge slice of vocal house which is 'Rubberman - Creep' its brilliantly camp and I have to confess dancing round the kitchen a few times to this one. The Cube Guys cover of The Who's classic 'Baba O'Reilly' is absolutely amazing, they have pulled all the hypnotic aspects of the track and gave it a kick into the 21st century, It definitely messes with your head.

Disk two starts with Chromeo - Needy Girl (Lifelike mix),Not your conventional Kandi track, but a welcome visitor, The scratching is brilliant.Sometimes you hear a track that moves you! and the collaboration between Sebastian Leger & Chris Lake - 'Word' is no exception. I like to think of it as the bastard love child of Greg Cerrone + D.Ramirez, Chunky electro with a lick of disco, genius I must say I was never a fan of 'Show me love', It takes a hammering at Hed Kandi events and whilst most are going bananas dancing i usually take a trip to the bar, but i now eat my words. The 'Payami' remix of the Mobin Master rendition is excellent, and it works seamlessly with Spit - Falling in a mix. Which brings me to what I think is the best part of the whole CD, the climax. One listen and in my head its 4 oclock in the morning on the dancefloor, everyone looking a little worse for wear. The build up of 'Kadoc - The Nighttrain' is intense as one track weans its way into the next. Its like they were made for each other, Sonny and Cher, Bonnie and Clyde, Nighttrain and Be! And if there is a marriage ceremony to be had, then I'll be the best man.

My conclusion is that this is definitely a new classic and not your typical Kandi mix, its one of those royal Hed Kandi releases that will take the biggest pride in my collection, and its one that may surprise you.
