ONLINE WITH KORU:.... by: Besonic.......WHERE ARE YOU FROM?.............Well, I grew up all over, But now that im all grown up (lol) I have to say it was a blessing in disguise ya know. I would have missed the chance to be an individual and gain personal strength through all those experiences. .......HOW DID YOU GET YOUR ARTIST NAME?......Koru is actually my name, but when I was around 12, they dubbed me: king of rhymes universally, because I used to write a lot of poetry, short stories, and songs around that time, I swear I have the most nick names though, ill just about answer to anything at this point ! (LOL).......HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN MUSIC?........I got into music through my family, I have one uncle that sings and the other is a D.J./producer...........WHAT ARE YOUR INFLUENCES (e.g. bands, styles, circumstances)?........... YOUR PERSONAL WAY OF MUSIC?.........I really had an explosion of music thrown at me when I was a kid. Blues, Rock, and Reggae was the first thing I remember hearing. I got into Ska and Punk in San Diego with my Skate crew........HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC?........My music is really alternative; I call it POP THIZZ and REBEL GOSPEL. I think of my songs as pieces, I put a lot of effort into the lyrics, subject matter and arraignments. Im not in this for a quick buck, I really want my fans to relate, and bring back the true art of originality. Even if you're not feeling it, you can't say Im copy carbon material. You never know what you are going to hear next. At first you are like, what!.......then it grows on you! .....WHICH IS YOUR BEST WAY TO WRITE(songs/music)? HOW DO YOU WORK MOST EFFICIENTLY?..............I go about song writing like an actor gets into his roll, I have to become the song that Im writing, and every song has its own personality that I bring to life. I work best by being in a secluded area, no distractions ( I write most of my material at the beach) or if Im in the city, ill just pick a spot and observe what I see...........HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO CREATE A SONG? e.g. writing and recording?..........When I work on my material, I dont put a time frame on it. Good lyrics are timeless. When I work with other artist on their projects, sometimes I just write on the spot, 16 bars in about 30mins to an hour, but I rather take my time to make sure the messages are clear. I'm not hating, but I know some Kats who can freestyle 16 bars, but their not really talking about nothing, just good word play. As far as recording goes, Im used to being in the studio and I know what sound and feel Im looking for, so it doesnt take long to record my songs. I dont like wasting peoples studio time..........ARE YOU ALSO WORKING TOGETHER WITH OTHER MUSICIANS (as guest players or in collaboration)?...........Yeah, Im currently working with Superb. Hes good, and he has a cool vibe about himself. He understands where Im going with the concepts I come up with. I also had a great group of guys from Tokyo that rocked hard with guitar; we did a few collabs and shows together at the Red Devil Lounge in the city. But I lost touch with them. If you guys are still together hit me up, I can still use a live band. Im also working with a variety of talented producers, singles "let Yourself Go" and "Spiritual Rydah" was produced by "Diamond Style Productions" via Moscow, Russia with the vocal arrangments by yours truly.........WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE LOCATION TO PLAY?.........Right now Im feeling the Bay Area, anything goes as far as music. Theres a lot of undiscovered talent floating around in all genres. Its a good place for networking and just jamming together. A lot of nice artist there. Besides, some of the best artist came from the Bay. Argentina is also chill, especially for Reggae Dub and Ska. As far as performing, ill go anywhere Im showed love...........DO YOU HAVE A VIDEO?............Not currently, Im indie, really indie, so I have an indie budget a.k.a. shoe string and not fat laces. But if you want to help me out, Im up for it! No seriously, wanna help me out! just kidding! i'll have one done when the time comes.........PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?.........Make more feel good music, and just get it out for everyone to enjoy!...........ANYTHING YOU WANT TO ADD AT THIS POINT?.............Im currently working on more material, so be on the look out for it. You wont be disappointed, its all about the next generation, and that new school flavor!..........THANK YOU!..........No, thank you, ciao
