The Detroit installment of the PLUG City Highlight Tour will feature some of the best local unsigned bands in the area. The PLUG City Highlight Tour spotlights the uniqueness of the local music scenes in cities across North America and recognizes those who support their communities and make them shine. PLUG and imeem.com are holding a contest to give one up-and-coming band a chance to open up for the rising indie bands playing PLUG Detroit. Bands will submit an original song to the PLUG Detroit 'group', then the bands headlining the show will judge the top rated songs and one lucky winner will be chosen to perform on the PLUG Detroit bill. PLUG and imeem are committed to supporting the local independent music scene, and this contest will give one lucky band an avenue for exposure and success. In addition to PLUG Detroit, the PLUG City Highlight Tour is also making stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Portland, OR. The City Highlight tour events have already happened in Austin, Brooklyn, Miami and Toronto earlier this year. PLUG partners with top promoters and trendsetters in each market, large and small, across North America to curate all-local shows highlighting the best up-and-coming bands, artists, film makers, fashion designers, blogs, zines and more. In addition to the PLUG Detroit group and local band contest, PLUG and imeem will also be teaming up to highlight the best of Los Angeles and San Francisco with content-rich groups and local band contests.
