Raffinae chartered her musical background from a very young age. Born to a mother who was a singer with gospel roots and a father who wrote/produced music. She would spend endless hours in the mirror impersonating singers.
Raffinae later at the age of nine began to write and arrange songs. She spent endless hours writing a diary of songs that were well beyond her life experiences. She loved to perform these songs for her family and friends. As a result of a talent show, Raffinae and two of her friends decided to start a group. This group later became LMH - " Ladies Making History."
Often being called the petite - up and coming "Chaka Kahn." The group went on to make a self titled CD that included several songs that were co-written, arranged and produced by Raffinae, members of the group and her father.
Raffinae has performed at countless events that include the Sweet Auburn Festival of Atlanta, Blues and Bones Festival, Indiana Black Expo, Matteson Festival, WEUP June Black Arts Festival-Alabama A&M, Klawitter Park,WGCI Music Seminar, opening for rap artist E-40 at Cisco's Music World, Lincoln Mall, Channel 19(cable), Apollo audition, Seattle Cafe, College fairs and many talent shows. She was featured in Ebony magazine, The Star newspapers, Arts and Entertainment Digest.
Raffinae, determined to make it as a recording artist began to charter a solo career. She has gone on to create her own CD titled "The Spotlight." The cd is now available on cdbaby.com/cd/raffinae and in digital distribution.
"The Spotlight," shows off her power of independence and individuality with respect to her merging genre's shown in her writing, musical arrangements, vocals and production. This CD showcases the crossover and solidifies her strength as a diversified artist.
Raffinae prides herself on true originality. Raffinae consistently achieved honor roll status, was the "Home Coming Queen" for 2006, mentors and tutors students at her school and is an accomplished cheerleader, gymnast and dancer who received a MVP award, several trophy's, other distiguished awards, ribbons and certificates.
Raffinae's influences are new school performing artists such as Beyonce, Rihanna, JoJo, Evanessence, Nickelback, Linkin Park, Aaliyah, Jennifer Hudson and Janet Jackson. But she also has an endearing loyalty to old school artists such as Otis Redding, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Donny Hathaway, Whitney Houston, Chaka Kahn, Tina Turner.
