the cake part was because sometime near the beginning GLaDOs says that 'as part of a required protocol she is required to inform you that after the testing process, you will be given grief counseling and cake' It is GLaDOS way of trying to get you to do what she wants, plus the guys at Valve have always had a great sense of humor, adding wacky things into their games. Like Jaratee, (the art of karatee with jars), tons of hilarious comments like 'OH NO, THE ZOMBIES KILLED GOD!' (might not be funny to some who haven't heard that one before, its just you are playing through Left 4 Dead hearing all of these zombie sounds, loud panic music, charachters yelling profanity and whispering profanity then suddenly zoey shrieks it out in a really high pitched voice, good times', the comments on the walls of some of the safehouses, comments on the walls in Portal, plus all the funny comments GLaDOS makes, tons of funny stuff.

Heck, also this song is really disturbing (and funny) when you think about some of the things she is saying to you, and how they relate to your charachter. Oh, one last funny comment to Gordon in Half Life 2. Alyx: 'Man of few words, huh' by the way, all the quotes are from my memory which is not great, as I haven't played the games in months (years in a couple of cases). Or Alyx's zombine joke, I laughed, but Alyx will never know.

The cake party was real and i think it was for to kill you when you win you have to decline and kill the robot to actually win the game and get the cool credits.

good question! love this song, best series of games ever, the Half Life games. Been onboard all along! Cannot wait until Portal 2 and Episode 3! And if you are like my friends, don't believe me (maybe most of you know this anyway, whatever), but Portal and Portal 2's storyline are tied into Half Life's. What does this mean? Hopefully we get some more information at E3!
