Realvibez Media, an integrated media and entertainment company and operators of Realvibez.tv, a leading online provider of media for consumers of Caribbean music culture, has signed a content distribution deal with Reggae Entertainment Television (RE TV).

Realvibez.tv will launch an RE TV channel on the website and make RE TV content available to visitors from around the World. The content will be available free of charge to anyone visiting www.realvibez.tv once the channel launches in August.

David Mullings, Chief Executive Officer of Realvibez Media stated “Realvibez has been able to create a Jamaican-owned destination website for Caribbean music-related videos and a strategic partnership with a major content producer like RE TV is a natural fit with our goals and long-term vision for the company and Caribbean music as a whole.”

Egbert v. Frankenberg, International Business Development Manager of RE TV, said, “We are aggressively focusing on major expansion plans for our distribution network.

The latest additions to our live satellite feed include Guyana and the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. But a satellite is not everything in a global marketplace so we are happy to join forces with Realvibez.tv because we cannot do everything by ourselves and Realvibez’s approach to the online video market has significant potential, which fits right into our expansion strategy.”

Realvibez was the official web partner of Reggae Sumfest 2008 and RE TV was a media sponsor. This content distribution partnership will extend the reach of Caribbean produced and owned content while bringing more revenues back to the Caribbean.

Robert Mullings, Chief Operating Officer of Realvibez Media added “We are always looking for opportunities to work with content producers who want to leverage the core competencies of our brands and properties. We look forward to working closely with RE TV to execute a great channel and play our part in supporting the growth of Caribbean music.”

Reggae Sumfest to leverage the reach of Realvibez Media to promote the 16th Annual show

Realvibez has signed on as the official web partner of Reggae Sumfest 2008, the largest multi-day Reggae festival in the Caribbean, now in its 16th year.

We have created a microsite at www.realvibez.com/reggaesumfest that is home to video clips from previous events, music playlists from performers, a blog and the ability for users to sign up for mobile text alerts. Realvibez will also serve custom advertisements based on a visitor’s country and language in order to effectively leverage the global nature of Reggae’s appeal.

Realvibez Media, the parent company of Realvibez.com, will also leverage strategic partnerships with major social networking sites. As the only Caribbean media partner with these sites, Realvibez’s channels are exposed to a potential audience of over 70 million users, the largest of any Caribbean media company. Video clips will be promoted during the next few months on these channels, gaining additional international exposure for Reggae Sumfest. Realvibez Media will also create and manage a digital strategy, including a MySpace profile, Facebook Fan Page and Youtube channel.

“We are excited to take advantage of the opportunity to work with a leading venture like Realvibez,” said Johnny Gourzong, CEO of Summerfest Productions, producers of Reggae Sumfest. “Realvibez gives us the ability to leverage the power of online portals and the unique capabilities of the web for marketing and promotions, especially with their ability to serve different ads based on a visitors’ country and language.”

“Realvibez has the largest potential audience of any Caribbean media company and we are glad to work with forward-thinking partners,” said David Mullings, CEO of Realvibez Media, the parent company of Realvibez.com. “Our goal has always been to expose good Caribbean music to the World and Reggae Sumfest is among the best partners to facilitate this dream.”

Confirmed performers for Reggae Sumfest 2008 include a who’s who list: Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Vybz Kartel, Busy Signal, Wayne Marshall, Brick and Lace, Sizzla, Mavado, Busy Signal, Richie Spice, Etana, Taurus Riley, Queen Ifrica and more.

Realvibez.com/reggaesumfest is already live and content will be added on a regular basis.

Cezar's Electro Reggae hit 'Keep On' chosen for Coca-Cola's 'WE8': A series of 8 limited-edition highly stylized, Coca-Cola aluminum contour bottles designed by China's 8 leading graphic artists and accompanied by songs from 8 talented musical artistes from the West.

Jamaica's Reggae Soul singer Cezar has been invited by Coca-Cola to be a part of their Beijing 2008 Olympic Games 'WE8' series. As the world joins together for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games this summer, Coca-Cola invited 16 artists, eight visual artists from the East and eight musical artistes from the West, to jointly represent eight corresponding themes reflecting the possibilities for happiness and connection from both the Coke Side of Life platform and the upcoming global gathering in Beijing.

Impressed by the inspiring and optimistic lyrics of Cezar's award winning single Keep On, Coca-Cola approached Ultra Records to use the Electro Reggae remix by German house music production duo Spencer & Hill to express the theme 'Active Optimism'. Spencer & Hill then remixed it once again to incorporate the five signature notes from the melody of the award-winning 2006 "Happiness Factory" Coca-Cola advertisement.

"For this project, we sought music artists – both internationally renowned stars and emerging acts – who share our passion for positivity," said Umut Ozaydinli, worldwide music marketing manager, Worldwide Sports and Entertainment Marketing, The Coca-Cola Company. "They are key players in our mission to inspire people to see the positive side of life, and we also will help them reach new audiences all around the world. We believe in the power of music to build relationships with people – it's part of the heritage of Coca-Cola."

With musical artistes Tiësto from the Netherlands, Benny Benassi from Italy, Kaskade, Jes, Lucas Prata and Jay-J from the USA and Serge Devant from Russia, Cezar is the only Caribbean artiste to be included in the Coca-Cola 'WE8' series and the first Caribbean artiste to get an endorsement from Coca-Cola International.

"This is an amazing opportunity for me and a great platform for my music. Music plays a critical role in bringing people of different cultures together because it exists as a truly universal language." – Cezar

Cezar's name and the web link to download the Keep On remix will appear on the bottle representing 'Active Optimism' designed by Chinese artist Chen Shaohua. From May through September 2008, the 'Active Optimism' design and Cezar's Keep On are available for DRM free download, which works on all devices, at: http://coca-cola.com/we8. The actual bottle will be available for purchase in New Zealand, the USA, Beijing and online from June to August 2008.

Cezar will be performing at all the upcoming Coca-Cola 'WE8' events to be announced in June 2008.

blog post Realvibez.com featured on Collegemogul.com

Current mood: excited
Realvibez.com recently received an extremely favourable write-up at Collegemogul.com, "a blog and online resource for college entrepreneurship" that also reviews "new and existing companies led by students and young entrepreneurs."

RealVibez: The Caribbean MTV, was written by Alex Lindahl, one of the students who came to hear us speak at Boston College's Entrepreneurship Society last October, a gig that resulted because of Facebook and connecting with Scott Bradley.

We love when non-Caribbean people refer to Realvibez.com as a "Caribbean MTV" because that is exactly what we have been trying to create via the web. It shows that we are achieving that goal and bodes well for the future.

This kind of PR is important for startups and early-stage ventures, you never know who will read the post, and it helps with search engine ranking.

The feature on CollegeMogul is even more important because the blog was recently added to the Startup section of Guy Kawasaki's new venture, Alltop.com, which collects stories from “all the top” sites on the web.

Guy Kawasaki is the author of many books, including The Art Of The Start, and he mailed me a signed copy of his book last year (you can imagine how much I treasure it).

In the week Ky-Mani Marley was confirmed to return as the special guest on the 2008 leg of the hugely successful Van Halen Reunion tour with David Lee Roth; Marley's anthemic song The March broke into the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales Charts - debuting at an astounding #19. The March the second single off his album Radio, outperformed songs by 50 Cent, Beyonce and Jay-Z to name a few.

The March is currently performed by Ky-Mani at every Van Halen show to
great response. The song puts his message out to the world and continues on 30 years later from his father's Exodus in a still troubled world.

USA Today, reporting from the opening show on the tour reports that Marley "incurred favor with the crowd by opening his half hour set with Roots, Rock, Reggae and finishing with 'No Woman, No Cry,' two songs from his late father Bob Marley's repertoire. However, he flashed his own charismatic side by enthralling the crowd with The March, a hip-hop/reggae hybrid song from his new album, Radio, that juxtaposed the war in Iraq with street violence."

The March is being released to mainstream radio in early 2008 as well as a video release with a powerful message. Ky-Mani's album Radio is currently on a number of radio and Billboard music charts including the mainstream Rhythmic Radio chart at Mediabase where it entered the top 200 this week.

Realvibez was present for the first day of shooting for the music video for Bad Boys, the first single off DJ GQ's upcoming album 'Let Em Know', dropping in Spring 2008.

The music video was shot in various parts of South Florida, including Miami, Broward and Boynton Beach. The video will debut online on Realvibez.com in January shortly after the release of the song to djs and radio disc jockeys.

The title of the song is Bad Boys - DJ GQ featuring DMX, Junior Reid and Dawg E. Slaughter. Junior Reid has been in demand since bursting back onto the scene on Mims' remix of This is why I'm Hot and Dawg E. Slaughter, a native of Trinidad, has been building a strong following among US fans.

DMX has been away from music for some years and this song marks his return to the scene in a big way. His most memorable collaboration with artists from the Caribbean was Here's Comes The Boom featuring Sean Paul and Mr. Vegas from the movie Belly.

Stay tuned for more photos and information.

blog post Barbee and Beenie Man shoot new video
Posted in Artists on Nov 07, 2007 at 3:16 PM
"I'm excited about the outcome of the video because it shows a different side of me compared to the first video entitled 'Missing You' feat. Junior Kelly. My family, friends and the Dollets were involved and it's a colorful, sexy, yet playful video. I find this song to be one of my favorites 'cause it promotes females to be confident and the beat shows both sides of my culture Jamaican and Nigerian," was Barbee's excited comment on her recent video shoot with Beenie Man.

The sultry singer who has just wrapped up the video shoot which was shot on location in Forest Park, Queens, New York under the direction of Scenario and Scuba (who has directed videos for the likes of 50 Cent and Fabulous) is very happy with it all.

According to Barbee the video will definitely be something to see and she can't wait until it is premiered in about two weeks time.

The Paddy Cake/Diva In My Sneaker high budget music video was shot on film making it a cut above most of the other music videos. It also features Acid Ladies from the Bronx and six-year-old Grenadian choreographer Hanan. In addition, there were cameos from the members of G Unit and Sporty Thieves camp.

The treatment was done by Paris Reid.
