Title: Modern English Rarities
Description: ...thanks to the intrepid Richard Anvil, I have recently hooked up with Ted Mason of Modern English and have started working with them to the point that Ted is sharing the music of Modern English then and now....right now, Ted is collaborating with the ubiquitous Ali Campbell of UB40.....it was at this point that Modern English was slowly extricating itself from the entrapments of New Wave as well as the highly acclaimed Mesh and Lace Album and Start Stop...... Todate, it is Ted Mason who is continuing the legacy of Modern English and this is the direction of Modern English todate...some will be collaborated upon with Ali.... Here are some excerpts from our correspondence.... All I Can Do: "These guys are really radical and would work with the art image of Modern English and Ali Campbell's new multicultural South African recordings (as well as mine). The new stuff Robbie and I were going after in the later years with Strings and Sitars/Syrangi's Indian Classical vibe, is where some of the unfinished material is now and I have a few songs I wrote by myself while in Modern English that seems to peek interest with Ali Campbell. " Deep In Your Jungle "Another old Modern English track that was left behind that is on my new solo album. I wrote the song and re recorded it 2 years ago from existing tracks." Another Day "This one is way out there. I reworked the lyrics so they are contemporary. Though I worked with Robbie on this I wrote this by myself with his approval. It was just an acoustic guitar track with an English 4 4 beat." Please If you Can Final "This track is about Rwanda. My wife and I are helping rebuild their infastructure and I am in charge of building a record company for them. Its about the last minutes on earth." Please It's Your Life "this was written literally 1979. reworked 1989. Bits Recorded in 1993, 94. final the mid 8 added with arab percussion and my vocals last year. Backing vocals will have to be recorded there is a lot of noise." The Planet Modern English's New Release exclusive here in my site with the good permission of Ted of course ...or you can visit http://www.myspace.com/modernenglishmi5....... For any queries regarding Modern English then and now...do drop a note.... skyray is love, Giselle
