Fuck what a great song.Kim Simmonds, guitarist and leader of British blues group Savoy Brown, at two different mid-soloing moments of a 1972 gig. Simmonds and his band had some trouble breaking through in a big way-they were considered to have arrived on the tail-end of British blues’ classic period, the band was touring behind its eighth album, Hellbound Train, a Top 40 album for the group in the US. Savoy Brown began in 1965, but by 1972, the group had gone through a considerable amount of lineup changes, including the departure of three of its members-namely, guitarist “Lonesome” Dave Peverett, bass player Tony Stevens, and drummer Roger Earl-to form successful boogie-rock outfit Foghat in 1970. Simmonds continues to record and perform under the Savoy Brown banner, most recently releasing Steel in 2007.
