Biography...
Actress/Author/Singer Sara Bennett got her start when she was six years old. At age six, Sara began book writing.
"I hated to read, but I loved the idea of someday becoming a world-famous mystery book author."
Sara tried and tried to write a book serveral times on serveral different subjects, but never really had the inspiration, but just the thought of how cool it would be to do that.
At age ten, Sara gave up on writing books and started writing songs.
"I loved listenign to Hilary Duff when I was younger and I always thought it would be the neatest thing if I could write songs like her, so one day I just sat down at the dining room table and tried to write this random song that I called "Baby, Baby." It came out horrible. I found out how incredibly hard an annoying it is to try to write a love song when you only ten or so years old and you dont know anything about love."
Sara was never really able to come up with good lyrics, but she never gave up on song writing.
"I loved song writing, so I never wanted to give up on it, because it's something that I've loved for so long and even if I wasn't good at it, I knew that if I kept practicing at it, I would eventually get the nack for it."
At age eleven, Sara began singing.
"I got an Aly and AJ cd for my eleventh birthday and I loved to sing along with it and that's when I first got into singing."
Sara only had to cd's at the time, Hilary Duff and Aly and AJ, but she was constantly singing along with them.
"I loved singing, but I wasn't good at it at all. I didn't know how to sing. What I would do is, I would sing with my normal talking voice, and I knew it sounded awful, so I decided to teach myself how to sing. I kept practicing and eventually I got to be really good."
Sara's first inspiration to start a band came when she was ten years old.
"I saw that episode of the Suite Life Of Zach And Cody where they were competing in the battle of the bands with some friends and I thought that that was the coolest thing. I wanted to get a band together with my friends and hopefully be a big hit group someday.
Sara's plans didn't work out how she wanted.
"I couldn't seem to get anyone to join my band, mostly because of the different schedules and now that I think back on it, it's probably a good thing that I never got a band together, because none of us could write music or play any instruments."
Sara eventually gave up on the band idea and moved on to a solo career.
"I loved the idea of working with my friends, but none of them could join my group and then one day I just gave up when I realized that I didn't really want to work with other people in a band because I was so independent and I'm not good at 'team work' or dealing with the different ideas that the group members would have. I liked being solo and making my own ideas and choices rather than dealign with what everyone else would want to do."
Sara first got into acting when she was tweleve.
"I loved singing, and my song writing was really getting good and then I thought that it would be really cool to get into acting too."
Meanwhile, aside from all her music and the desire to beginning acting, Sara had gotten back into writing books.
"I loved writing songs, and at first I was horrible at it, but then, since I kept practicing, I finally got to be really good at it. Then I remembered my book writing from when I was younger and I thought that since I hadn't kept on trying with that subject, that's why I wasn't ever very good at it, so I decided that I would pick it up again and this time, I wouldn't give up on it."
When she wasn't using her dad's computer to type her song lyrics, Sara was in her room writing her books.
"The second time I got into book writing, I still wasn't very good at it, but I didn't give up on it and for two years I delt with horrible writing, and eventually, since I didn't give up, I got to be really good at book writing. I kept my novel subject on mysterys, but they didn't come out as good as I hoped, so I tried many other subjects and since then, I've been very good at coming up with story lines for my books and I love it."
Sara is now an indie pop/country/alternative/rock/oldies artist; a crime/drama/mystery author; and a PW actress.
Sara Bennett resides on Santa Monica, California and Coweta, Oklahoma.
