This is just more gimmicky hipster food that won't age well. The phony market is now flooded with this crap. You can go ahead and over-process a submediocre product if you want, but that doesn't change the fact that bad uninspired writing is easy and cheesy when melancholy. She could at least have found a phony hipster who's not aimlessly following this tired-ass and forced lofi throwback production style. Don't think that by putting your name on other people's bad ideas makes it your album. If I were her I'd hesitate to even credit my name to this silly crap.

Ah, well, different and weird sometimes works, sometimes not. This album creates a hypnotic and all-encompassing atmosphere that brings new life to Waits’ poetry, but ultimately ends up someplace else, where neon glares off puddles reflecting moonlight and tears and lost promises and none of it matters, just ineffable loss and a story barely comprehensible behind a haze of alcohol and cigarette smoke flashing phantasmagoric shadows of color and light while the songs are etched into your subconscious until you sing them to yourself in dreams. Sounds like music one could hear at the Roadhouse in Twin Peaks, and that's not a bad thing.

scarlet j.'s background music to her song are very different and wierd. she sings wonderful but the music does not give her voice justice.
