THE ART OF THANKSGIVING
==================================

The art of thanks GIVING is thanks LIVING.
by Wilferd A. Peterson

- thanking God for the gift of life by living it triumphantly.
- thanking God for your talents and abilities by accepting them as obligations to be invested for the common good.
- thanking God for all that men and women have done for you by doing things for others.
- thanking God for opportunities by accepting them as a challenge to achievement.
- thanking God for happiness by striving to make others happy.
- thanking God for beauty by helping to make the world more beautiful.
- thanking God for inspiration by trying to be an inspiration to others.
- thanking God for health and strength by the care and reverence you show your body.
- thanking God for the creative ideas that enrich life by adding your own creative contributions to human progress.
- thanking God for each new day by living it to the fullest.
- thanking God by giving hands, arms, legs, and voice to your thankful spirit.

Why not add acts of thanksliving to your prayers of thanksgiving?

blog post FOR MY BROTHA'S (THE REAL MEN)

I Adore Mi Amor - Najee

To the REAL MEN.....Much love and appreciation to those men who hold it down and keep it real. Those brotha's that honor, appreciate and respect women for much more than sexual objects, doormats and punching bags. Those who see and understand us for more than the goldmines between our thighs or the mounds upon our chest.....Understanding and appreciating the value and the prize you've found in capturing the heart, mind, soul and spirituality of a real woman, a good woman.......To the brotha's who know how to talk to us and never call us out of our names or talk down to us, nor allow anyone else to. To the brotha's that know how to keep the home fires burning and inspire us to do the same; with no need or desire to look any further. To those that understand that a sperm donor does not a father make; willing, ready and able to be responsible and setting a good example for the son's and daughter's you helped bring into the world. Taking care of the financial, mental, spiritual, emotional and physical needs of your family. To those men who inspire us as women to stand by you.....support you and love you inspite of your failures and shortcomings. Because you show us love, respect and honor; We will go through the fire with you and for you; Knocking down anything or anyone that gets in your way. To those who appreciate us and love us for our inner strength and beauty, the mere essence of our being inside and out. Men not willing to discard, ignore and put us away because we no longer have the curves and size of a superficial, airbrushed fashion model or pretty young thang! But love us inspite of the pounds we gained to give birth to your children or when gravity takes over. My brotha.....we will love you inspite of the extra pounds around your waist, the crows feet around your eyes, the wrinkles in your forehead, receeding hairlines and all the changes that take place as you age and mature. To those brotha's who open doors for us, pull out a chair. wrap your jacket around us when we're cold. To those who honor and take your vows serious and will remain faithful and true, because that's what real men do; Not blaming your lack of self- control on the fact that you are a man; But maintaining self-contol. To those brotha's we honor and appreciate you; Our Kings that make us feel like Queens...we love and adore you; and will always have your back. To the brotha's who have paid the cost to be the boss; deserving and earning the right to have the love of a good woman. That woman who will make you feel you are at home when she welcomes you into her loving arms...... showing what real love is. To those brotha's.......

You may take your bow.....

Much Love.......One Love

You may not have heard of Dr. Mark Dean.. And you aren't alone. But almost everything in your life has been affected by his work. See, Dr. Mark Dean is a Ph.D. from Stanford University . He is in the National Hall of Inventors. He has more than 30 patents pending. He is a vice president with IBM. Oh, yeah. And he is also the architect of the modern-day personal computer. Dr. Dean holds three of the original nine patents on the computer that all PCs are based upon.

And, Dr. Mark Dean is an African American. So how is it that we can celebrate the 20th anniversary of the IBM personal computer without reading or hearing a single word about him? Given all of the pressure mass media are under about negative portrayals of African Americans on television and in prin t, you would think it would be a slam dunk to highlight someone like Dr. Dean.

Somehow, though, we have managed to miss the shot. History is cruel when it comes to telling the stories of African Americans. Dr. Dean isn't the first Black inventor to be overlooked Consider John Stanard, inventor of the refrigerator, George Sampson, creator of the clothes dryer, Alexander Miles and his elevator, Lewis Latimer and the electric lamp. All of these inventors share two things:

One, they changed the landscape of our society; and, two, society relegated them to the footnotes of history. Hopefully, Dr. Mark Dean won't go away as quietly as they did. He certainly shouldn't. Dr. Dean helped start a Digital revolution that created people like Microsoft's Bill Gates and Dell Computer's Michael Dell. Millions of jobs in information technology can be traced back directly to Dr. Dean!

More importantly, stories like Dr. Mark Dean's should serve as inspiration for African-American children. Already victims of the "Digital Divide" and failing school systems, young, Black kids might embrace technology with
more enthusiasm if they knew someone like Dr. Dean already was leading the way.

Although technically Dr.. Dean can't be credited with creating the computer -- that is left to Alan Turing, a pioneering 20th-century English mathematician, widely considered to be the father of modern computer
science. Dr. Dean rightly deserves to take a bow for the machine we use today. The computer really wasn't practical for home or small business use until he came along, leading a team that developed the interior architecture (ISA systems! bus) that enables multiple devices, such as modems and printers, to be connected to personal computers. In other words, because of Dr. Dean, the PC became a part of our daily lives .

For most of us, changing the face of society would have been enough. But not for Dr. Dean. Still in his early forties, he has a lot of inventing left in him. He recently made history again by leading the design team responsible for creating the first 1-gigahertz processor chip.. It's just another huge step in making computers faster and smaller.

As the world congratulates itself for the new Digital Age brought on by the personal computer, we need to guarantee that the African-American story is part of the hoopla surrounding the most stunning technological advance footnote in history. He is well worth his own history book.

Today I had to free my mind, spirit, body and soul;

Of the chains of pain that were binding me.

Today I had to release the hold,

on all who had hurt, wounded and harmed me.

Today I had to forgive myself and

all those who have used, abused or misunderstood;

the purpose and intent of my heart.

I had to forgive those who had issue with my reason for being.

I had to love those who wouldn't or couldn't

recognize or appreciate my value and self-worth.

Today I had to free all those who have mere hatred

of my existence, inner strength, essence of

beauty, the power of love, gifts, talents and spirituality.

Today I am able to soar like the eagle;

reaching the higher heights my Lord has prepared for me.

Because now, the shackles can no longer

hold, confine or bind me.

Today I have used the keys to the Kingdom;

Jesus took and gave to me.

You survived the trials and tribulations, of hurt, pain and abuse.
God has brought you through the stormy and turbulent seas.
Beloved, hold your head high and walk into your brighter day,
your future, your destiny.
With faith and confidence that your future is better than what's been.
God's promises are true. There's so much more in store for you.
Keep the faith! Keep trusting the Lord!
You've come too far to throw in the towel.
Keep running the race! Keep pressing on! You're a survivor!
A blood bought child of the Most High God.
God the Father, truly takes care of His own.
You're a survivor!
With the word of God, prayer, love and faith;
You will in VICTORY, keep on keeping on.

With the pulse of the morning on a
November day; you painfully,
quietly went away.
A young spirit with an old soul; you
made the decision and needed to go.
You touched many lives with your
love, warmth and charm.
Tormented, confused, you just
couldn't carry on.
Although, we'll miss you,
we must go on.
Your spirit my friend is not gone;
it remains in the music, laughter,
dance and song.
So take your place Val, among the
great cloud of witnesses.
For in the wind, in a dance, in a
song, and in our hearts; we know
you will be cheering us on.
