I can’t believe I’m actually awake at 5:30 am. After getting a little over three hours of sleep, I’m finally at LAX waiting to board my plane to Salt Lake City. And already, I’ve had a celeb sighting. Okay, well more like a celeb hearing. My cab driver, upon discovering I was in the entertainment business, proceeds to tell me that he met Eddie Murphy before the funnyman was famous. “It was the 80s,” he tells me. “And Eddie gave me a $100 for a $5 fare.” The cabbie then goes on to say that three months later, he picked up a homeless man who was treating himself to a night’s stay at a hotel after Mr. Murphy kindly gave him $300. What a nice man! Do you think he’ll be at Sundance?

i'm bored as hell sitting here at the burbank airport waiting for my flight (and not looking forward to a layover in AZ) but i'm sure things will change once i get to park city. my blogs may not be typical (dubFrequency.com) and i'm definitely NOT politically correct (or grammatically for that matter) so viewer discretion is advised for my blogs. we'll see how crazy things get...

When driving 700 miles in one sitting to Sundance, break up the late
afternoon brain-glaze by digging with one hand for your camera to snap
a photo of your dashboard at 70mph. Admire the new "world record" on
your electronic screen. "NEGATIVE 6" - somewhere in southwest Utah."

blog post 2007 Sundance Film Festival
Posted in TheCHIMP.net, Pre-Sundance on Jan 17, 2007 at 2:18 AM by Chris Barrett
Hey everyone, I'm producing partners with Efren Ramirez. We met at Sundance in 2004. I was featured in the documentary "The Corporation" which won the Audience Award at Sundance and Efren was featured in Napoleon Dynamite. We both came back to Sundance in 2005 and got talking and realized we had similar goals in the film industry. We decided to start working on some projects together and then ended up launching our production company Powerhouse Pictures Entertainment. We have been in production on the feature documentary "After School" (www.afterschooldocumentary.com) which is examining the teacher student sex scandals in America's schools. We also have a handful of other projects that we will be working on in 2007.

This is our fourth year at Sundance Film Festival and we're looking forward to a great time. So keep checking back to follow our Sundance experience!!

Hey guys, I'm Efren Ramirez. I've had a couple movies come out in theaters since last years blogging with imeem at Sundance. I was in 'Employee of the Month' with Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson, 'Crank' with Jason Statham, 'Walkout' with Alexa Vega, and a couple other ones. I also started a production company with Chris Barrett and we are working on a documentary called "After School" which will be completed by the fall.

In between shooting films I DJ at clubs around the country. I'm heading out to Sundance on Friday to DJ a couple gigs. I'll be spinning at the Premiere Lounge on Main Street on Saturday night.

I'm looking forward to this year. I'll be in town from the 19th to the 24th and be photoblogging all week!

See you in Park City!!

Efren

Buckle up kids! My real name is Mikey but everyone calls me "The CHIMP". (except my mother, she calls me "Michael", like a kindergarden teacher)

I do TheCHIMP.net where I "yenta" about my famous friends, nearly famous friends, and just plain troublemakers...

Better than a Golden Globe, getting called up to the bigs for the Sundance 2007 Imeem team rules....we'll be playing nice with Diana and the Hollyscoop girls, E! Channel''s Hollywood Party Girl, and even Pedro, as in Efren Ramirez (Vote for Pedro/Napoleon Dynamite '04), all of whom are also covering for Imeem. I heard Perez Hilton is an alumni of the '06 team....yup, there he is at the bottom of this page.

Coming Soon: Spring Break 2007 ....Sundance 2007.  Hollywood moves to Utah for 10 days of partying, celebrity snowboarding, photo opps, and sidewalk fashion shows of dickweeds walking around in newly purchased "winter stuff". There's also movies or something also. Whatever I remember will go up here….
