Suthan Tamilake [சுதன் தமிழ்லேக்] (also noted as Suthan T) was born Suthan Sivapathasuntharam on Friday August 7, 1987 in Singapore. He is a contemporary Tamil Singer and Actor whose heritage hails from Jaffna, Tamil Eelam. He is predominantly an English language singer due to his upbringing in the UK, however he has branched into singing in the Tamil language. The nickname 'Tamilake' originates from his style of singing, as many have referred to him as the 'Tamil Justin Timberlake', hence the moniker 'Tamilake'. He is best known for his rap vocals on the song "Ghost Girl" by Rajbavan. His first solo song was "Uyirukul Kadhal" which premiered on IBC Tamil Radio on Sunday 28 September 2008. He forms part of the group of songwriters at Adaxial London.
Arguably to date, his biggest hit has been his song with Kiri Jey, 'Tamil Girl'. As a child he appeared in the film "Goodbye Charlie Bright". He also acted in a recent independent short British Film about the lives of Tamil Youth in East London. He recently performed at the Rebelstar Records organised event 'Best of Europe' hosted by T.Boom Radio Station, with many other popular European Tamil Artists & the Canadian group Little Empire. He is on a song from the upcoming Tamil Movie "Kaddaikann" with Prathadsan.
He attended Chrystel Arts Theatre School in Edgware for over ten years where he learnt Dance, Drama and Singing. He also learnt the Violin, Viola, Bharathanatyam, Carnatic Vocal and Carnatic Violin. He completed his Arangetram in 2003 aged 16 and holds a teachers diploma in Carnatic Vocal. With regards to education, he attended Watford Grammar School for Boys and read English at Brunel University, London. He currently resides in Stanmore, London.
