Tephra is a band from Braunschweig, Germany which exists since the end of 2003. Before they formed Tephra all the members played in various local bands who musically were quite diversified. By this they bring many different influences into the band. Tephra play a mix of hardcore, sludge and doom. Their first release (as a four piece band) was a self-produced Demo CD with 4 songs on it. At the beginning of 2005 they entered the studio to record their first full length Tephra s/t which was released via Riptide Recordings in March 2005. While constantly touring their debut LP through all of germany and europe they started playing some new songs which now incorporated keyboards and samples and a fifth member. In March 2007 they once again entered the studio to record their sophomore album, entitled A Modicum Of Truth. It was released in October 2007 by Riptide Recordings. The band is currently writing new songs to be recorded some time this year. Also planned are tours through europe & the uk, as well as north america.
