Bio
A full and proper band since February 22nd, 2006, The Attorneys has its roots planted firmly in the New York music scene as far back as November, 05. It was then that 2/5ths of girl-rock band Jessie Diamond and The Thousand: guitarist John Wlaysewski and drummer Colin Schiller, were planning their escape. Having just lost their 3rd bass player, they happened upon William Ryan George at an audition, freshly emigrated from Fresno and looking for a musical team that could match his songwriting ambitions. After hearing the unassuming gent sing, John knew something magical could be created in a new band setting.
It eventually came to pass that they would have their chance, as lead singer Jessie Diamond bowed out of the project and The Attorneys were born. Named on Attorney Street outside NYC mainstay Sin-e, The Attorneys recorded a 4 song demo engineered by Nick Rowe of Blood Simple.
Before anything could be done with the material, however, William Ryan George hopped a bus back to Fresno , leaving only two notes at the practice studio and a promise of a swift return. This promise was not enough for Colin, who soon exited the band and left John to decide what to do next. Subsequently, the two agreed to mix the songs for posterity and parted ways.
John then created a website for The Attorneys and posted the 4 song demo, emailing local blogs to tell them about the band. From November 31st through February 21st, he kept the band alive through Myspace, music blogs, and other such means. It was on February 21st that William Ryan George finally hopped a plane back to New York and with John’s longtime musician friend Ken Weisbach, they formed the present and truest lineup of The Attorneys.
The Attorneys have been charged with the unenviable task of reinvigorating a stale genre of music, and are happy to say that the journey renders the goal irrelevant. Let’s bring the world to its knees.

Band Members
William Ryan George has been singing since he was 3 years old. Raised on bands that had a singular auteur voice at their heart (The Police, Billy Joel, Elton John, The Beach Boys), his singing and elocution are original and personal. His bass playing reflects his innate melodic sense and an earthy groove oriented nature. Add to this his knowledge of piano and guitar and you have a self-contained songwriter that has found his equals in John and Ken.
John Wlaysewski has been playing guitar and writing songs for over a decade. He is charged with the task of adding his innovative and emotional (but not bluesy) chord choices and rhythm styles to songs already packed with ideas and emotional weight. William and he have collaborated on many of the songs found on Stereocracy, and their creative styles mesh stunningly in the songwriting arena. An original and studious musician, John cites The Edge, Jerry Garcia, and Andy Summers as guitarists that have informed his playing sensibilities, and Elliot Smith, and the Beatles as major influences on his songwriting style.
Ken Weisbach joins the two Brooklynites from the suburban malaise of South Orange, New Jersey. His drum style distills Stewart Copeland and Neil Peart with the more economical rhythm choices of Bill Berry and Pat Wilson. Ever excited at the prospect of creating new and amazing music, Ken has added a much needed richness and subtlety to the rock and bombast of The Attorneys song structures.
