The Stranger’s Six (AKA The Sixxx) was brought to life a little over three years ago out of the east county of San Diego. The San Diego based band formed when Thompson joined forces with good friend and guitarist Luke Johnson and began writing “dirty country punk songs” on acoustic guitars as well as some “sweet Danzig covers” for fun. The dynamic duo talked their way into performing at one particular show, without a full band. Because of this, Evan, Buck and Jason were quickly added and the full band was complete. Soon their songs became cohesive, strong and driven and slowly The Sixxx’s sound was realized.
The group recorded their short EP “The Inaugural” and began touring profusely up and down the west coast. Soon, The Stranger’s Six found themselves nominated for “Best Punk Band” for three consecutive years at the San Diego Music Awards, being a constant fixture on San Diego radio and being awarded by MTV2 as a “Band on the Rise.”
Drawing influences from a healthy wealth of old fashioned rock ‘n roll, punk and even hip hop, The Stranger’s Six has constructed a distinctive sound of unforgettable melodies that mischievously flirt with honest lyrics and straight forward guitar hooks.
The Sixxx will continue their strong push with the release of their first full-length album “A Date With Daylight” on Orange Peal Records this year. Their captivating songwriting on tracks like "Skin Your Teeth" and the CD opener "Back to the Start" showcase not only the bands sly wit, but their ability to write songs that burrow themselves deep into your musical cerebral cortex.
The Sixxx's diverse roots have helped them share the stage with bands such as TSOL, Dashboard Confessional, The Cult, Franz Ferdinand, Ok Go, The Misfits, The Bouncing Souls, 30 Seconds To Mars, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Strung Out, Hot Water Music, The Bronx, MxPx, She Wants Revenge, The Lashes, The Sounds, Hard-Fi, Atreyu, Panic! At the Disco, Bullets and Octane, The Living End and many more.
In 2007 The Stranger’s Six is continuing taking on their dream of the open road and captivating the rest of the world. Exuding emotion, delivering a unique brand of rock and roll that lyrically raises eyebrows to social expectations and sings mournfully across a chorus of modern youthful struggles… The Sixxx have all their stars aligned.
