Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist is the creator of True Skool, an organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of hip hop. Through it's events, newsletter and website, True Skool accomplishes it's mission. In addition to True Skool, Ren is also a DJ in his own right sharing bills with hip hop luminaries such as Grandmaster Flash, Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Jazzy Jeff, and DJ Q-Bert, to name a few. His background growing up in the suburbs of New York City, exposed him to hip hop at an early age. He also experienced the birth of the underground rave scene in NYC and other legendary events such as Giant Step and Soul Kitchen. His musical knowledge is vast and spans many genres including hip hop, electro, funk, soul, breaks, trip hop, acid jazz, house, hip house and everything in between.
