Amanda, it's interesting you say that - the song definitely sounds like a lullaby, and musically conveys security. But at the same time, the lyrics are so dark - they're "hanging in the shadow of your family tree"... "and in the shadow of the gallows of your family tree / there's a hundred hearts soar free / pumping blood to the roots of evil to keep it young"... "there's a garden grave and a place they've saved for you." i think that's part of tvotr's genius - you can enjoy their music on many different levels, and their lyrics are subtle but suggestive.

i don't understanf why they're so great, but i like this song. it reminds me of security. and i was actually sampling the album without paying attention to song titles or whatever, but this one caught my ear, so I checked to see what the name of the song playing was: "Family Tree". Really fitting title for the sound of the song because if safety, security and nostalgia are things we (hopefully) feel from thinking of family, this is what it would sound like.
Maybe that's why this band is so good and sensationalized. They caputure the emotion of music well. But it's still a not my taste. Good nonetheless.
