XD I see your comparison and agree Shish Kebab but Spirited Away came before Howl's Moving Castle, and Howl's Moving Castle is based on a book written in 1986 by Diana Wynne Jones :3

i watched howls moving castle today again(its my fave~~) and realized towards the end that the scene in which Chihiro turns Haku over is SO taken from howls moving castle. or more correctly--HAKU himself is a mini-colder version of Howl--the hair, the strange friendship, etc. i laughed when i realized it!!
