About

Description
Victor Huynh composes and plays music as a hobby. He currently works in regulatory and compliance for a pharmaceutical company during the day. At night, he composes songs to keep his artistic ability alive. At a very young age, Victor has always been attracted to the art and music. Victor taught himself basic guitar chords at the age of 10. Eventually, he could play simple classical guitar at the age of 12. However, he was told to focus on math and science because long hair guys playing guitars didn't get to make much money. They all seemed to hang out at the corner coffee shop with their guitars without any "real" jobs! At the age of 14, Victor tried to enroll into a piano class but was told that his age was too old to learn piano. Victor bought a Casio keyboard right after college and started learning piano through books and perseverance. After a few years, Victor was finally able to play the piano, though, he still neither reads nor writes music very well. In 2005, Victor got a Yamaha and he immediately fell in love with it. He started composing and recording songs late at night so that he could fulfill his life-long dream. Growing in up in the 80s, Victor loves all kinds of music except hip-hop. On the lighter side, he particularly enjoys Yanni, David Lanz, Richard Clayderman, Andre Rieu, Mozart, Beethoven, and Rossini. His favorite composers are Richard Nanes and Yiruma. He also likes French, Latin, and Vietnamese romantic melodies. Victor has completed six albums which he basically gave away to his friends and secret admirers. He posted his albums on musicfreedom.com and amazon.com for lovers of relaxing music. Since Victor does not seek to make money from his works, he donates all proceeds received to charities. Summer Rain is his latest album which he started in late 2007. Victor completed the 12th piece, April Snow, just recently. The song, adapted from a Korean movie, was a dedication to Victor's dearest friend and secret admirer. The project was inspired by a movie trailer posted on You Tube™. Most of the pieces in Summer Rain are ballad and meditative. Some pieces took a week while others took months to complete. Victor plays all the instruments since he does not know how to use music software to edit songs. Victor is currently working on his seventh album, Winter Hearts, for 2009. He hopes you enjoy his works.

March is the month of transition from wintry weather into spring. As spring blossoms try to emerge, they often encounter the last snow fall of the season. The blossoms that survive the last snow fall go on to be the strongest and most beautiful flowers throughout spring. Perhaps, it is nature's way of telling us that a beautiful life can only be achieved through adversity. I'm not sure why I wrote this piece. It came to me at once during an evening while thinking about my internal transition. I started from 8PM. By the time it's done, the clock was at 3:30AM. I slept for 3 hours then got up for work. But somehow, I felt peaceful and renew. Perhaps, spring has finally arrived.

In this piece, I also experimented with wind instruments accompanying the traditional piano and strings. Let me know what you think.

Despite traffic, earthquakes, and wild fires, Southern California was the only place in the country with 80F weather last week. But I actually miss the cold and snowy winter of Chicago. For me, the winter season always stirs up memories of distant past. These moments in time also brought traces of tears to my eyes. This piece was written to celebrate the moments of joy and sorrow from a distant past that come alive only during the winter.

As I sat in front of the piano on a wintry night, I decided to try a new song. Sometimes, winter found its way into our hearts and caused us fall. Without uttering a word, the other catches us, to help us get back on our feet. And we stayed together through sun and storm; until the fallen is strong enough to stand again. That's what friends are for. A true friend never turns her back when we fall. Even in the depth of winter, our hearts are still warm. This song is a dedication to my dearest friend. The new album for 2009 will take the new song name - Winter Hearts.
