Posted May 01, 2007 at 5:53 AM, Last Edited May 18, 2007 at 8:41 PM
The Video Vinyl jury will select THREE Finalists: The Grand Prize Winner will take home $3000.00 in cash AND
- The chance to have his or her Intro used for the first broadcast season of Video Vinyl! If entry is used for the actual series, Winner will receive Full On-Screen Credit. - The First Runner-Up will receive $1000.00. - The Second Runner-Up will receive $500.00.
We already have our Logo and Theme Song, the rest is totally up to you… The DEADLINE for posting entries to the imeem site is May 31st, 12 PM Pacific Standard Time, so get cracking! General Guidelines:
- Entries can be produced using ANY method: animation, motion graphics, stop-motion photography, live-action, claymation, needlepoint––whatever you can think of. - Entry must incorporate the Video Vinyl logo, and use the provided theme song. - Entry can be no longer than the theme song (between 22-23 seconds). - You CAN submit multiple entries if you are feeling especially creative and ambitious—just tag them. - Use your heads! Since we are a broadcast show we fall under FCC jurisdiction. Therefore, any entries containing material that is sexually explicit, excessively violent, or defamatory are unlikely to win squat. - Following from the previous, we reserve the right to remove any posted entries we find objectionable. - Entry must be the original, unpublished, and sole property of submitter. Entrants must also ensure that they own or have obtained all licenses and copyright to allow the entry to be screened in public across a variety of different media, including broadcast, cinema, web and wireless platforms. A signed agreement attesting to adherence to the copyright clearance will be required prior to acceptance as a finalist. - Entrant must have written permission from any identifiable person that appears in the work to use their likeness in the intro contest submission and such persons must be 18 or older.
Submitting Your Entry: To Enter, just post your submission here to the imeem Video Vinyl Contest site. - imeem supports most formats but recommends .MPEG, .MOV, .FLV, and .AVI for best results. - There are no file size limitations, but the upload time cannot exceed one hour. For posting purposes, you might want to scale the video file to 400x300 with mpeg-4 video. - To qualify for the prizes, hard copies of all submissions must also be sent in to the address below:
Video Vinyl Intro Contest Submission 8 ½ East Main St. Champaign, IL 61820
The show will be broadcast in the U.S. so we will need all hard copies in NTSC (29.97fps) Hard Copy formats preferred are: - Tape (Beta SP, DVCpro, DV, DVcam) - Data DVD (QuickTime Format). Codec’s Accepted are: Uncompressed, DV50, DV25; Size: 720x486 or 720x480. Contestants will have 2 days beyond the May 31st posting deadline to mail in the hard copy.
By entering you are acknowledging that you are abiding by all rules of this contest and the Imeem website, that you are not infringing on rights of any intellectual property owner, and that any identifiable person who appears in your video has provided express written consent to appear and passes along all rights for usage of their name and likeness for whatever use of the video Video Vinyl sees fit in connection with the contest.

Hi, I'm from Italy, can I enter the contest anyway? I'm asking just to be sure, since a lot of other contests are for people from USA only. Thanks in advance

Hey...2 questions 1-You have to be 18+ to enter, or if people are featured in the video, they must be 18? 2-Are we allowed to work in production groups, with people under 18? Any response is appreciated

Hey there,
The only age restriction is that you cannot show the image or likeness of anyone under 18 in the Intro piece itself. You can work in groups with whomever you like.
Thanks and Good Luck!

The guidelines say...
-Contestants will have 2 days beyond the May 31st posting deadline to mail in the hard copy.
Does that mean that the submission just needs to be postmarked and send out before 2 days after May 31st (June 2nd), or does the hard copy need to get to you by june 2nd?
thanks.

We'd prefer to actually have it by June 2nd, since we are working against some deadlines of our own and want to pick the finalists as soon as possible.
If you wait and upload your entry at the last minute on May 31st, you can still drop the hard copy via 2nd Day mail for around $4. We will factor in another day or so grace period in case anything gets delayed, but probably not more than that.
Thanks and good luck.

Hey guys
We are working on one right now (from New Zealand), but just realized we would have to send the hard copy before the 31st to make it to you guys by the 2nd of June. We were wondering if it is possible to submit our video via your website (on the 31st) and that day send the hardcopy which will take around 4 days?
Cheers

Send the ftp link and info and I can download it from there. I'll let you know if I have any problems.
We will be broadcasting in Standard Definition 4x3, but if you feel that the content is better suited for 16x9 we can letterbox it.
Thanks.

OKAY. Sorry for any confusion.
The deadline for uploading is:
MIDNIGHT, PACIFIC-TIME AT THE END OF THURSDAY, MAY 31ST–
(i.e. if you upload at 12:01 am Pacific on Friday, June 1st you will be too late by one minute).
Don't forget to get us the hardcopies within two days of that for US submissions, 4 days for Overseas entrants.
Thanks and good luck!!

Yeah, we were going to wait and let everyone know so people wouldn't freak if it hadn't gotten here yet, but that is a better idea.
Once the mail arrives tomorrow (Monday) we will directly email those folks whose hard copies we have received.
We did get yours, by the way.
Thanks Man, and Good Luck!
