Introduction
Jack Radics
Every now and then, we come across an artiste that initially grabs our attention, and then slowly pulls us further with one display after another of compositional fortitude, melodies, or something about the “voice,” and sometimes purely just the emotional substance. Just listen to Jack Radic’s songs, lyrics, and music. Once you start listening to his music you might find that you cannot walk away from it.
There is something real going on in this Legendary Artiste’s work, very real and evident. Just listen to Infatuation, That's Life, Time and Pain, West Bound Train, Fill it with Love, Wild Kyoti, (Coyote), Moving Away, Suffer in Silence, African Soldier, Let my people go, Affairs of the Heart, No Matter, Empty Eyes, Catch 22, Strengthen my Faith, just to mention a few of the many hundreds of songs that he has written and released over the years.
However, the term "real" is much more than what it implies. It is a reflection of a writer’s ability to draw someone into something within the lyrics, combined with his compassionate “Jazzy Honey Toned” voice delivered with power felt deeper than in the heart. Whatever the interpretation might be there is something...So real, listen to the “diversification” of the harmonies, the melodies, and the lyrics. Not strain, not over-wrought, not coerced. It is obvious that Jack Radics is an expert in his field just by the willingness to take the risk to be different; Jack Radic’s music bares a certain amount of unpredictability. However, not the over worked unpredictability of “cacophony,” unpredictability of a road that turns just beyond your view, you have to let his phrasing guide your ear or it may run off the road. In addition, this road has many turn offs many unexplored side roads that could lead in different interesting directions, sometimes it can leave you standing at a cross road if you do not listen closely so you may have to go back and listen again. If you know your music, it will do this for you, as good music does that for me; if it leaves me wondering, I like it even more because it leaves more to my imagination to personalize it and make it my own. That is how music should affect the listener, to gravitate them on a new and “Unpredictable” journey; you will be surprised what it can unmask. Listen past the textures, listen past the harmony, you do not even have to try; it is evident, it is real and it is for you to enjoy!
