About

Description
Hi,
I am looking for a studio/facility to mix my Full Length Neon Guns CD. I want to plan a cd release for the 2008 summer quarter and eventually tour of its release. My PR for the cd will be handled by Planet Devious and possibly the LP will be distributed or Engine Room Records.

EAR FARM (national online) 08/26/07 Super Volcano clearly believes in these songs they've made. Like I said, they had to make this music. And who can argue with them based upon the results? They're scratching so many of my own personal musical itches by blending together their dramatic pop sensibilities with synthesizers and production that's rough around the edges; I'm completely ready to declare them fit for mass consumption.

ZAPPING (national online) 09/07/07 Recommended to me by a friend who thought i needed a bit less pop in my life. I gave it a listen and then, dammit, couldn't get it out of my head as they pack the verses and chorus with enough sing a long goodness to keep fans happy for years to come.

ABSOLUTEPUNK.NET (national online) 11/1/06 For those who can appreciate the finer points, this release will bring out more reactions than the band’s name implies. Basing the concept of the record more on how each song flows, violins, tape loops, accordions, keys, and sporadic clarinet sighs coalesce with the a-typical rock accouterment, creating a familiar but fresh sound.

TRANSFORM ONLINE (national online) 9/29/06 Perfect production. Instruments are played well and mesh well together. The band go where many other bands aren’t going today.

ANTI MUSIC DOT COM (national online) 9/29/06 The expansive knowledge of traditional theories and methodologies add an unsurpassed level of sophistication to their take on indie-rock compositions.

SILENT UPROAR (national online) 9/12/06 Niche-less and eclectic is the way to be, and these guys have nailed it.

Biography
James Wolff, b. 1982, began the study of music and composition at an early age through the Skaneateles, NY elementary school system. In his youth he studied with Dr. Joseph Downing of the theory department of Syracuse University, completing the undergraduate theory requirements as an early teen and composing and performing for the Encore Music Festival in Ohio. Was a member of the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra and studied viola at Ithaca College with Debra Moree and later with Dr. Joseph Holland (IAA). Attended the Interlochen Arts Academy concentrating in composition and conducting in 1998-2000. Earliest period of performed compositions in the catalogue are marked by IAA and are an unaccompanied viola sonata, a cello and piano elegy, and the chamber orchestra work “green lake” which was conducted and recorded with the Interlochen Chamber Orchestra. At the Peabody Conservatory of Music he studied with Grammy wining composer Nicholas Maw, Christopher Theofanidis, and Judah Adashi. In 2001, Mr. Wolff continued his discography with the premier of his string quartet on the Peabody composition departmental recital, and continued with works including an electronic orchestral multi-media ballet production “Tonasphenia” which was programed with selections from minimalist composer Philip Glass’ opera classic “Einstein on the Beach”. He has participated on the Visages multi-media team as part of the Mica/Hopkins/Peabody collaboration, and is the former electric violinist/keyboards of Kiss Kiss (Eyeball Records). Formed the music collective Motion Commotion (Piermont Records) completing several EP releases and a 7 track CD engineered by Jessie Cannon (The Cure, Dillinger Escape Plan, Saves the Day) with national tours garnering outstanding reviews in music industry magazines for 05/06. Previously employed as an independent booking agent with Lower East Side Productions, NY, and worked at Ishlab Studios in Brooklyn as a recording engineer. Past performances include Knitting Factory, CBGBs, Crash Mansion, Pianos, and the 2007 CMJ NYC Music Festival. Currently in Baltimore, the Violin Sonata has a performance in December at Peabody on the Composition Department Recital, and there is a Wham city show January 12. Also organizing a show at metro gallery, looking to collaborate with anyone who is into film, and waiting for a room to open up at the copycat building. To get on the show email list email me at awolffinbaltimore@gmail.com, I can also send cd's, putting together digital distro on 6 albums, over 2.9 hours of music!
