“The best and most beautiful thing in the world”
As I reflect on yet another year God has blessed me with, I realize, time and again that He is truly an amazingly God that no one can compare to. He works in my life in ways that are so mysteriously wonderful. He never fails to show me that He is the one that controls my life. It was through Him that I was able to experience the best and most beautiful thing in a person’s life, that is, to have experienced the love, and to love my mother “Mama”.
My family is, I can say, my most valuable treasure. Maybe it is the maturity that comes with age, but as I reflect, I realize that I no longer deem material things to be my most prized possession, but rather, it is the essence of having a family, being loved and having people to love and to share my life with. Next to God, my family is my source of joy and happiness. As the Christmas season is in the air, it reminds me that it is a time for families, for loved ones getting together and just enjoying the company of each.
I grew up trusting and leaning on Mama more than with my Papa. And yeah, I’m a mama’s boy. She would always seem to understand what I went through, even if she did not, she would try her best to do so. She was always there for me when I needed someone to just share my joy and sorrows. I knew that I could trust her, but I hope that she could trust me as well. Never, not once, did she turn her back on me, my Father, or anyone else in the family for that matter. She would always make us see the value of family and teach us to place it above all else. She brought light to my world when everything seemed dark and hopeless. She believed in me like no one else ever did. She pushed me to pursue for greatness and never give up on anything. For that, and so much more, just by having been able to take a little part of her life, is the most beautiful thing that I’ve experienced. I loved her ever since I realized my capability for such, and still do so. I wouldn’t trade her for anything in this world. Truly, what is most beautiful is not seen nor heard, but felt in the heart.

So some of you would like to arm a crew chosen on how little they get paid ($200 - $300 per month) from middle Europe, China, Indonesia, Malaysia etc.? They are virtual slave labour for the benefit of western consumerism of which they get little benefit and you think the pirates don't use this to their advantage?

If you work in a bank are you going to take a bullet when it gets robbed? Heck no, the robber can have what they want just so they leave you alone because it is NOT YOUR MONEY. Why would a crew earning peanuts care either? It is not their oil or cargo or tanks or whatever, just their lives which are probably worth a whole lot more to them than to you or the owner.

This is a political issue so lobby your politicians to do practical things military or otherwise as that is the only practical solution. If you are prepared to allow arms on one group of ships you must be prepared to accept all nations arming every ship they can, so if you follow that logic you will accept armed Iranian or North Korean etc. etc. ships into your ports, or is USA going to set up 'Sheriff' boats to take the guns into safekeeping while the strangers are in town??? The situation is different than in previous centuries - then you would be enslaved, killed outright without mercy, or a lot worse if good looking or female...

Many nations are now taking this threat very seriously and are actively doing something about it, but as there are thousands of shipping movements daily there are lots of gaps to fill... So get lobbying.

Should ships be equipped with weapons to fight against pirates?
In the 1700s trade ships had cannons to fight against pirates. Now there are still pirates, so should container ships and oil tankers be equipped with modern weapons like torpedos to fight against pirates?
